Raised in a small rural American town by immigrant parents, this first-generation medical student grew up navigating the complex worlds of healthcare and government on behalf of their family. From translating documents to advocating for medical care, they became the voice for their loved ones long before they ever dreamed of wearing a white coat.
That dream was tested and transformed when one of their parents was diagnosed with cancer. While balancing academics, athletics, and part-time jobs, they also became a caregiver—learning first-hand the emotional, physical, and spiritual toll of illness. Yet through every trial, their connection to Allah only deepened.
To ease their family’s financial burden, this student has scribed for physicians, taught Qur’an to local youth, worked at a free clinic, and even played professional sports to earn income. Their story isn’t one of privilege—it’s one of perseverance and purpose.
They are pursuing medicine not for prestige or wealth, but to be the kind of doctor who listens with compassion and heals with humility—especially for those who are often unseen: the immigrant, the underserved, and the forgotten.
