Almost 50 years ago, my eldest brother Bassam Albaba was the first in our family to go to a university and specifically to medical school. His quest inspired so many of our family members to follow suit and excel in different fields of medicine. There are so many families who need that pioneer and inspirational figure. I like this fund to be for first generation Americans, who like to pursue a career in Medicine, especially when they are the first in their families.
