Who were Saquib, Zahera and Salman?
Dr. Salman Haq was beloved to so many. Other than being at the service of his family, he was at the service of the deen and his community. He passed away in November 2022, in New York, due to a sudden cardiac arrest. He was known for his charitable deeds – both open and secret. No wonder Dr. Haq was the first person to create a Legacy Fund at ACC, to enable Muslims students to go to college riba-free.
Initially he started the fund in his father, Saquib’s name. Then when his mother, Zahera passed away, he added her to the fund. Now with his family’s permission we are adding Dr. Salman Haq’s name to the very fund he started. The fund he started will continue to spread the goodness, even after his passing.
We ask for everyone to make dua for him, his mother Zahera, and father Saquib. May Allah swt grant them the highest level of Jannah. Ameen!
Where do the funds go?
When you donate, the funds are used to provide interest-free loans to Muslim students in need. Making education accessible and saving students from riba was a cause near to Dr. Salman’s heart and so we ask that you contribute to the fund in their name, for an endless sadaqah jariyah InshaAllah.
None of the funds donated go to the The Haq families and they are not in financial need. They encourage us all to give what we can to this Legacy Fund this Ramadan and beyond.
