The Awaida Legacy Fund was established as a lasting charity in honor of the beloved Awaida family—Yousef, Raihan, and their young son Omar—whose lives reflected sincerity, generosity, and unwavering service to their community.

On October 31, 2019, they were tragically taken by a drunk driver, leaving the Long Beach, California community heartbroken. Yet the legacy of their goodness continues to shine.

• Yousef was known for his gentle spirit, sincere smile, and quiet generosity.
• Raihan, a devoted social worker, lived a life defined by compassion, service, and a sense of humor that uplifted those around her.
• Omar, their joyful three-year-old, brought warmth and laughter everywhere he went, nurtured by parents who poured their hearts into him and their community.

And the Prophet ﷺ taught: “When a person dies, all their deeds come to an end except three: a continuous charity (sadaqah jariyah), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.” — Sahih Muslim

Through this fund, we honor that teaching. The Awaida family devoted their lives to serving others; now, their legacy continues through every student who is lifted, every dream made possible, and every prayer said in their name.
