I am deeply aware of the burdens that student debt imposes on new graduates, especially in the medical field. Residents often begin their careers saddled with significant interest-bearing loans, which not only distract from their primary focus on family and patient care but also place them in a morally challenging position due to the involvement of riba (interest). This is a systemic issue with few alternatives available.
Fortunately, my personal journey through medical education was remarkably free from debt, a blessing I attribute to Allah’s grace. This experience has convinced me of the vital need for accessible, interest-free education for all students. A Continuous Charity (ACC) has been instrumental in making such opportunities available, reinforcing the belief that supporting this cause is a crucial responsibility for all Muslims.
In light of this, I am honored to establish the Haneef Family Fund with A Continuous Charity. This initiative represents the first Muslim charity dedicated to providing community-funded, interest-free educational loans to Muslim students. Through this legacy fund, I aspire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of deserving students, who I hope will continue this tradition of generosity and support within the ummah for generations to come, InshaAllah.
