“And whoever saves one [life]—it is as if he had saved all of humanity.” (Quran, 5:32)
Her story began in turmoil, but it is rooted in resilience and hope. At just 12 years old, she left war-torn Libya for the United States, facing immense challenges alongside her family. Her father, once on a path to achieving a PhD, started anew, courageously battling severe heart disease and, recently, colon cancer, all while supporting his five children.
She grew up accompanying him to hospital visits, chemotherapy sessions, and long nights of medical uncertainty. Witnessing his suffering ignited within her a profound passion for healthcare, particularly pharmacy—a calling to serve others with compassion, knowledge, and empathy.
Today, as she juggles rigorous pharmacy studies and her part-time job at the community’s sole 24-hour pharmacy, she continues caring for her father, meticulously managing his medications, consulting pharmacists, and advocating tirelessly for his comfort.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, “Whoever alleviates the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will alleviate his hardship on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sahih Muslim)
She is driven by this prophetic tradition, aiming not merely to dispense medications, but to be a pharmacist who listens deeply, educates compassionately, and bridges gaps in healthcare, especially for underserved and immigrant communities. Her fluency in Arabic and English positions her uniquely to offer essential support to non-English-speaking patients, providing clarity and solace during critical moments.
